About the Role
The Company is a global pharmaceutical leader seeking a Vice President for Search and Initial Evaluation. This senior leadership role is pivotal in driving the company's strategic growth initiatives, particularly in the early stages of drug discovery and development. The successful candidate will be responsible for proactively identifying and assessing external innovation opportunities in the core therapeutic areas of CNS, I&I diseases, and rare diseases. Key responsibilities include significantly increasing the volume and breadth of sourced opportunities, building and maintaining deep relationships across the biotech and pharmaceutical ecosystem, and leading a high-performing business development search team. The role demands a dynamic individual with a Ph.D., M.D., or advanced degree in life sciences or medicine, a minimum of 10 years' experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, and a proven track record in business development and search & evaluation. The ideal candidate for this role at the company will have a strong scientific background, a robust industry network, and a deep understanding of drug development processes. Experience in CNS, inflammation, immunology, and rare diseases is strongly preferred. The role requires excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills, as well as the ability to lead through influence and vision. The Vice President will be expected to lead the initial due diligence process for high-priority opportunities, contribute to the development of partnership and licensing strategies, and represent the company externally at scientific and business development conferences. This is a high-impact position for a strategic thinker who can blend scientific rigor with creative foresight, and who is adept at navigating ambiguity and adapting to evolving priorities in a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and mission-driven environment.
