We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Senior Complex Litigation Paralegal to join our team in Century City. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 10 years of experience in complex litigation and is ready to jump into a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role is perfect for a self-starter who excels at managing a diverse caseload, preparing for trial, and isn't afraid to take on new challenges. The role requires being on site in Century City 2-3x/week.
Key Responsibilities
- Case Management & Litigation Support:
- Manage and oversee a diverse caseload of 15-20 complex cases at various stages of litigation in state and federal courts, with a focus on multi-district litigation, mass tort, and class action matters.
- Perform legal research and draft legal documents, including motions, notices, and orders, using pre-existing forms and macros.
- Handle court filings, including electronic filing ( eFiling ), as a key part of your responsibilities.
- Ensure all case files and documents are meticulously organized and maintained.
- Trial Preparation & Attendance:
- Actively participate in trial preparation from start to finish. Our firm goes to trial frequently, and you should be comfortable preparing for and attending 3 or more trials per year .
- Organize trial exhibits, manage witnesses, and prepare trial binders.
- Know courtroom decorum and assist with setting up a war room and courtroom technology.
- If you haven't attended trial, you must have substantial experience in trial preparation and be willing to quickly get up to speed on attending.
- eDiscovery & Software Proficiency:
- Manage and execute all phases of the eDiscovery process.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency with eDiscovery platforms, especially Relativity , or similar software like Disco or Everlaw.
- Prepare and manage privilege logs and conduct document reviews.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience as a complex litigation paralegal.
- A solid understanding of civil litigation and procedural rules for state, federal, and appellate courts.
- Significant, hands-on experience with trial preparation and, ideally, trial attendance.
- Strong familiarity with eDiscovery and extensive knowledge of platforms like Relativity .
- A proven ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- 1,600 billable hours are expected, and there is ample work to support this requirement.
