About

A construction company is seeking a Safety Manager to lead and strengthen the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs across all divisions. This role is essential in developing a strong safety culture tailored to HVAC construction and service operations.

Location

• Aurora, IL
• Monday Friday | 7:00 AM 4:00 PM (with flexibility for field or project schedules)

Compensation and Benefits

• $100 125k/year (based on experience)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct field visits to ensure safe work practices and identify risks.
• Lead site inspections, safety walks, and hazard analyses (JHAs/JSAs).
• Oversee planning for high-risk tasks (e.g., lifting, confined space, energized work).
• Develop and maintain HVAC-specific Safety Management Systems and SOPs.
• Manage safety programs: fall protection, rigging, LOTO, confined space, refrigerant handling.
• Deliver field training on PPE, equipment uses, and safe procedures.
• Lead safety orientations and support toolbox talks.
• Maintain training records and certification tracking.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses; implement corrective actions.
• Ensure OSHA, EPA, and DOT compliance; manage safety documentation.
• Report safety performance to leadership and stakeholders.
• Support workers comp claims and return-to-work programs.
• Analyze incident trends to reduce risk and cost.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelors degree in occupational health & safety plus 3+ years of construction safety experience
• Board-certified safety credential (CSP, CIH, ASP, CHST) plus 5+ years of construction safety experience
• OSHA 500 certification plus 6+ years of construction safety experience
• Valid drivers license and ability to travel to job sites
• OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR (preferred at hire, required within 90 days)
• Strong command of OSHA standards and mechanical safety applications preferred
• Proficiency in EHS data tracking, Excel/Google Sheets, and mobile inspection tools
