CNC Set Up 

Pay: $18-20

Location:  Manitowoc, WI

Hours:  Monday - Thursday, 6:00a-2:00p (overtime as needed)

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CNC Set-Up Technician. This role is critical to ensuring precision machining of molds, tooling components, and related fixtures for high-performance composite and thermoset plastic parts.

Key Responsibilities:

• CNC Setup & Operation
  • Set up and operate vertical CNC machine to machine mold cavities, inserts, and other tooling components with tight tolerances.
  • Interpret and execute machining instructions from engineering drawings, CAD files, and setup sheets.
  • Load programs and make necessary tool offsets, fixture alignments, and first-piece inspections.
• Tooling & Mold Support
  • Support the fabrication and maintenance of compression, transfer, and injection molds for thermoset materials.
  • Collaborate with toolmakers and mold designers to ensure proper fit and function of mold assemblies.
  • Perform trial setups and adjust tooling/machine parameters based on thermoset processing requirements.
• Process Optimization
  • Recommend and implement improvements to CNC programs, cutting tools, and machining strategies to enhance efficiency and part quality.
  • Utilize knowledge of thermoset behavior to optimize machining of heat-sensitive or abrasive materials.

• Experience:
  • Previous CNC setup and machining experience.
  • Strong background in injection, compression, and/or transfer mold tooling.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting complex blueprints and GD&T.
  • Familiar with CNC controls.
  • Skilled in fixturing, tool selection, and cutting strategy for thermoset materials.
• Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and high standards for quality.

Work Environment:

• Manufacturing floor and toolroom environment.
• Exposure to machining noise, dust, and fiberglass materials.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
